Offering her terms to join him as a pupil in his bindery in July, and concluding, "I assume that you are preparing to learn for your own pleasure. If, however, you have your 'living' in view then I would advise you not to come to me. Bookbinding is *not* a craft--it is only at a very great cost & in consequence of some special gift which is perhaps rather born with one than acquired."
